CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome) is usually associated with exposure to one or more biotoxins.
- Biotoxins are released by micro-organisms, which infect or colonize humans
- Micro-organisms releasing biotoxins include mold, Lyme and other tickborne co-infections, and other fungal, viral, or bacterial species
- Environmental toxicants that persist in the soil and groundwater may also contribute to the toxic burden
Because many symptoms of CIRS-associated conditions are generic or mimic other health conditions, these diseases often go undiagnosed for months, increasing the suffering and disease progression of the patient. You may even be asymptomatic, with little or no outward signs that you have been infected or exposed until the infection is detected with lab testing.
If your healthcare provider suspects one or more micro-organisms at the root of your CIRS, consider Vibrant’s Tickborne Diseases and Mycotoxins panels.
Symptoms and conditions associated with biotoxin illnesses include:
- Forgetfulness
- Muscle spasms
- Depression
- Lack of concentration/Brain fog
- Anxiety (fears, uneasiness)
- Irritability
- Headache (not migraine)
- Hyperactive (nervous energy)
- Joint pains
- Intestinal pains/cramps
- Fatigue (sluggish, tired)
- Stuffy nose
- Shortness of breath
- Rashes or hives
- Irregular heartbeat
- Constipation
Do I need to fast for this test?
Fasting is recommended for this panel.
Is this a test for mold or mycotoxins?
No. This test screens for inflammatory markers of biotoxin exposure, but does not directly test for the presence of mold/mycotoxins. If you are concerned that you have been exposed to environmental or food-based mold, please ask about the Vibrant Mycotoxins panel.
Is this a test for Lyme disease or other tickborne diseases?
No. This test screens for inflammatory markers of biotoxin exposure, but does not directly test for the presence of tickborne diseases, such as Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella, or others. If you are concerned that you have been exposed to tickborne diseases, please ask your ordering provider about the Vibrant Tickborne and Infections panel.
